Investment
Planning

There is nothing
more rewarding
than when a plan
fulfills it's potential.

It all fits into place
seamlessly.

Investment Sectors.
The principal investment sectors (asset classes) to be
considered within any investment plan/port-folio are:

Cash. Characterised by interest rate related products, which
produce dependable income streams and have no likelihood
of capital growth or capital loss.
Bank term deposits, debentures,
cash management accounts & trusts represent such products.

Fixed Interest. There are a number of investment options which
differ in their yield, security & flexibility. Generally, this sector is
used to provide a high level of security & a strong income stream,
with little potential for any significant capital growth. The common
options are government bonds, term deposits, mortgage trusts,
bank accepted bills and similar instruments. Some exposure to
international fixed interest bonds is often appropriate.

Property. Property sector has traditionally yielded a reliable
income stream & capital growth over the medium to long term.
Market & economic conditions will influence performance.

Australian Shares. The Australian share market historically
offers the best opportunity for strong capital growth over the
medium to long term. As an investor you must maintain a
balanced view to extreme short term moves in the market.
With dividend imputation, the yield from a share portfolio is now
more attractive because of the enhanced tax efficiency.

International Shares. The capitalisation of the entire Australian
market is less than 2% of the world capital markets. Investment
offshore offers greater diversification & should form a significant
part of any long term portfolio. Currency fluctuations do add an
important variable into the risk/return equation.
